Having loaded a few batches of 10mm with mixed results got me curious if what powders consistently show up in your load data because they just get the job done?

AA9, Blue Dot and 800X have been my go too powders for my 10mm. This is with the heavies. Longshot is another great powder.

As time went on, I started to notice that some powders kept appearing in my notes. They stood out because they provided steady, predictable performance, without throwing any curveballs from one session to the next. For me, the most important aspect has always been how well a powder works with various bullet weights and how consistently it meters. When I get reliable results, it naturally becomes my go-to option. I’m not focused on hitting max velocity. I’m all about reliability and a load that feels the same every time I shoot.

I too look for powders that meter consistently thru my powder measures. A Hornady dispenser with a rotating drum, & my Dillon with it's sliding bar. Ball powders meter with + / -.1 gr. consistency, in my experience. My latest discovery is the Shooter's World line of powders. Many of this line are fine (small) ball powders that meter very consistently. Unfortunately, once I discovered the great performance this line of powders provide, they got scarce.., hard to find anywhere. Apparently, other loaders discovered them as well. S.W. manufactures a powder for most calibers, and in my experience perform as well as, or better than other brands I've used in the past 45 yrs.

I keep on hearing into AA9 and Blue Dot everywhere especially with the heavier bullets so it’s nice to hear that matches what people are experiencing in real life. I’ve heard some mixed opinions about 800X being a bit quirky to meter, but once folks get it set up right, they really seem to enjoy how it performs. I haven’t tried Longshot yet, but it sounds like it’s worth adding to my list. I appreciate you sharing what’s been effective for you!
