Hope everyone's having a good time here!

I'd love to know, what’s one hunting mistake you’ll always remember? Maybe it was that moment your scope went busted, or you realized the boots you wore were totally wrong, or perhaps you spooked the game way too soon. I’d love to hear your stories. Let’s swap some lessons and have a good laugh along the way!

Oh, I don't know.....

How about forgetting that you unloaded your muzzle loader when you got home from hunting, go back out a few days later, drop in a 209 primer have a 150 class 10 pt slip in at around 55 yards, get the crosshairs on him, pull the trigger and get nothing but a 209 primer bang? Duh :ROFLMAO:

I’ve never experienced exactly that, but I totally get that gut punch you feel when you realize you've flubbed something so basic. It’s funny how the simplest things trip us up. We can remember all the complicated details but then we forget the most essential stuff.

Did that buck even spook, or did he just stand there looking a little lost? Honestly, I think I’d rather see him bolt. At least then you could convince yourself that you wouldn’t have gotten the shot anyway. But when he’s just hanging around... ugh, that’s the worst.

I bet you’ve got a solid pre-hunt routine figured out by now Nothing hits harder than watching a big one just walk away because of something totally avoidable. Trust me, I've been there with my fair share of slip-ups, and those lessons stick with you for life.

I'll tell you the honest truth. He spooked a little but just stood there for a few seconds then started slowly walking off. By the time I reloaded (with powder and a bullet this time), he was still in the field inside 100 yds. I didn't shoot at him again. He eventually wandered off into the woods after about 5 minutes. My bad. I had my chance and blew it. So, I let him pass. That why I rifle hunt with a ML. 1 shot. Make it count. I have enough racks on my walls. Not getting this one doesn't bother me. Now, if it was like a 170 class, well...... lol.

I love that you opt for a muzzleloader when you hunt because of the discipline it demands. Having just one shot forces you to take your time, breathe, and really make it count. It’s not only about the trophies on the wall it’s about the whole experience, the challenge, and the respect you show for the animal. And I hear you on the ā€œ170 classā€ exception. We all have our own standards for what gets our adrenaline pumping a bit more :ROFLMAO:

I mostly bow hunt, so I consider my ML a long-range bow. LOL
