I’m taking advantage of the off-season to plan my next rifle purchase and the .450 Bushmaster is definitely at the top of my list. Before I decide, I thought I’d reach out and see if any owners have encountered any common issues. Hope everyone is having a great holiday season!

First of all, welcome to the forum from Lapeer
I am currently using a CVA Scout, stainless, in a 450 bushmaster.
My brother and I bought them new at the same time. What I really like about it is the trigger, single stage that breaks at about 2 1/2 lbs. Very crisp, very accurate.
The 450 is a real powerhouse, doubled my range from my 12 gauge slug. I've never had a deer run. They've always dropped in their tracks. I don't think you can go wrong.

I would take a look at the 400 Legend cartridge before buying a 450. Do some research before deciding. I would also consider a bolt action rifle over a semi-auto. That's just my personal opinion.

I’ve built a bunch of 450 bm’s in AR platform with 16” barrels. Very accurate. I took a 10 pt this year at 243 yds. He was laying down facing me and shot hit just under throat patch. He never got up. Was nervous if bullet had enough energy at that distance. Recovered the bullet and the jacket was entangled in the spine and it spit the core into lungs. If I was together a bolt gun I would consider 350 or 400 L. In a gas gun definitely 450BM. Heavy buffer and buffer spring gets recoil very manageable and actually makes it a bit more accurate by changing dwell time. Just my $.02👊

At shorter ranges, this gun really delivers and does its job well for deer and hog hunting. That said, I wouldn’t want to be shooting it all afternoon. The recoil is quite noticeable, the ammo isn’t exactly cheap, and you’ll want to make sure you have good magazines and a properly tuned rifle; otherwise, it can feel a bit clunky.
