Planning a trip to visit family and trying to figure out the best route. I'd like to bring a firearm with me, but going through New York State makes that tricky. I've heard mixed things about transporting guns through New York, and avoiding it adds a ridiculous amount of drive time. I'm weighing my options—thoughts from anyone who's faced this dilemma? What route did you take and how did it go? I'm open to suggestions or any tips you might have.

Are you asking about concealed carry or carrying a firearm in a locked case ? They are completely different and NY allows the later just not the Concealed option. Sorry never traveled thru NY but aware they are not a reciprocal state. We honor their CPL, they just do not ours
