These cool evenings are giving me the itch to start calling yotes at night. I can't ever remember it getting this cool at night in Aug/Sept in southern MI before. I figure food calls won't be real effective but pup distress, challenge howls and maybe a wailing fawn might bring in a few this time of year. Any night hunters on here been out yet?

Pup distress calls work great this time of year in MI, try a high-pitched one to mimic a lone pup. Use a red lens spotlight to avoid spooking yotes, they cannot see it well.

When I worked midnights, I would night hunt yotes right behind my house on my days off. Nowadays not so much. I just might have to start again now that I'm retired! I use a GREEN lens on my Wicked Light instead of RED. Green throws better/farther light and still won't spook them.

Thanks guys!! Made 3 stands tonight and no takers. Food is still pretty plentiful! Seen mice and birds in every setup and coon and rabbits on the last. Need to find a den to set up close to. I’m running thermal so I can see anything with a heat signature 👊👊😁😁. Seen over 30 deer and one was a monster buck. Hope someone gets him this deer season. He was a beast! I nicknamed him Bullwinkle 👍😁😁

Bullwinkle must've been a sight, I love the nickname, how close do you usually get before they spook with that setup?

This is one of my favorite 'Go-To' spots in the field behind my house. I don't hunt it until the farmer is done cutting hay for the year. I've put the smack-down on quite a few yotes breaking the wood line running out to my Fox Pro caller/decoy combo. I have it set-up about 150 yards out (the little speck below the red arrow). Pretty much a chip shot with my Remington R-15 VTR Predator .223 rifle. I just throw on my ASAT Ghillie suit and sit in my folding chair with my back to the wood line next to a few deadfalls for cover.

I had a spot just like that up in Ogemaw county where I once lived. Was my G hog/Coyote stomping grounds. Farmer loves having both of those critters removed and I gladly accommodated. Like you, I sat back in my turkey recliner with a rag suit on waiting with rifle on a long bipod. Killed some of both there every year in separate seasons. Great memories for sure.

I’ve had bucks within 20 yards at night. Had a fawn come right up to me. Was about to pet it till the doe wheezed behind me and alerted it to run🤣🤣

And I'm guessing that you just about jumped out of you skivvies when that doe blew! 😂 😂 😂
