Hit up a local lake in Michigan over the weekend, just me and a buddy. We were after some bass, and the weather was pretty ideal—clear skies and just enough breeze to keep things cool. Water temp was decent too. Threw a few different lures, but the chatterbait did the trick. Landed a couple nice ones and missed a few bites that felt solid. Always tough to say if they just nipped at it or what. No monsters this time, but it was a good day on the water. How's the bite where you are?

The fishing's been pretty solid here lately. Those cooler mornings really have the bass sticking close to the structures at first light, and then as the sun comes up and things warm up a bit, they're venturing into the shallows. I've had some luck with soft plastics and finesse rigs but if the wind picks up just a bit, throwing a spinnerbait or a squarebill can really turn the bite on. We haven't landed any giants recently, but enough action to keep things interesting.

Where is here ? I live up in Gladwin county and haven't had quite that experience Yet, but it's coming. Going from a avid largemouth fisherman to an even bigger smallmouth nut, the bite will pick up in October thru November significantly but slow where I'm fishing in NE/NW Michigan.
