Grouse hunting reports?

Hi, know the early season can be hard, but any reports on grouse/woodcock numbers?

I haven't had a chance to get out yet this season, but I'm really curious to know what others are spotting. It sounds like grouse numbers can change quite a bit depending on where you are in the state. I’d love to hear what others have experienced.

Grouse numbers seem up in Alger county where my camp is located. Shooting is tough until leaf drop is over 50%. I usually don't hunt the place till mid October. Should be a good year.

I took a ride to Amasa mi 49909, Thursday October. 2nd about 55 miles of gravel road saw 3 birds.
