I've been tinkering with my .308 loads this week, trying out some new powders. I'm currently testing Benchmark and Varget to see which gives me better groups. Would love to hear about your experiences with these powders!

Varget is some of my favorite powder for 308 Win. Haven't tried Benchmark. With a Hornady 3037 (150 gn) bullet, I use 41.2 gn Varget and WLR primers loaded to a COAL of 2.775"
Should be around 2550 FPS IIRC. I load these for my Ishapore, an Indian SMLE in 7.62 NATO. They shoot fantastically for me.

I also have an excellent reduced load for close range steel plate shooting. Using the Hornady 3031 150 gn bullet, 31 gn of H4895 at the same 2.775" length, is very good in my rifle.

I recently picked up a 308 Rem 700 varmint and shot some S&B ammo thru it to get some brass for reloading. I'll be loading some 168gr Sierra Matchkings. I'm going to start with Varget.

I bought 250 LC brass that was resized, trimmed, polished and primed for 100 shipped.

I've read that shooters that load really like Varget. I've loaded a fair amount of that caliber ( had a M1A & AR-10 ) and both loved to be fed.
I found that at the distances I shoot (100yd max. is the limit@ my club) my 308 loads were NOT powder fussy, I was able to get MOA & sub MOA with a wide range of powders, even bulk WC-846, when I could find it. I've been impressed with a variety of Shooter's World line of handgun & rifle powders..all seem to work great in my firearms, Precision rifle & Match rifle may provide the greatest accuracy..but my shooting ability is more of a limiting factor than the powder I use.
