For years while mounting scopes on my rifles, I've used levels on the scope turret, on the action and on the barrel and used a plum bob on a string. Those methods usually worked well but was pretty time consuming especially when trying to level the crosshairs.

I recently bought a Real Avid Level-Right Pro Scope Leveling Kit. This is a pretty slick set-up that makes scope leveling quick and easy.

The kit comes complete with a grid card with integrated level and a small height adjustable tripod, a projection light (rechargeable), a front level assembly that the projection light mounts to and self-centers on the scope's objective, and 2 mounting pieces. one for use on a Picatinny rail and one for regular barrels (magnetic). This kit won't work on every rifle but will on at least 95% of them.

Set-up and level the grid board behind your rifle stock, attach the projection light assemble in front of the scope objective and turn the light on, focus the crosshairs on the grid board (using the diopter and/or the zoom ring if you have one on your scope). Turn your scope in the (loosened) scope rings and align the crosshairs on the grid board. Torque your scope rings to specs and you're done. Easy peasy and works great.

For years, I mounted scopes the old-fashioned way but then I borrowed a projection leveling kit from a friend and it cut my setup time in half! Even though I still double-check with a plumb line just because it's a habit.

It sounds way faster than the old bubble‑level circus. Anything that saves time and still nails alignment gets my vote...
