Is it safe to let my cousin use my carry pistol? We both have our CPLs, but I'm just worried, what if he ends up using my gun in self-defense or something? Could that get me into trouble?

Yep. Not criminally but civilly. No different if you let someone (a licensed driver) borrow your car and they cause an accident and injury another party(s). You can be held civilly liable. Even though Michigan law states that a current/valid CPL holder may legally carry/possess a 2nd parties' handgun, I sure wouldn't feel comfortable doing it. Two words come to mind, 'Vicarious Liability'.
