Deep cleaning our guns

How often do you guys give your carry guns a good deep cleaning? I’ve got a Glock 19, and I’m sitting at about 1000 rounds since my last full breakdown. Am I pushing it or am I just overthinking this whole thing? :ROFLMAO:

You know, I like to really take care of my carry gun. I usually go for a full breakdown and deep clean every 800 to 1000 rounds. I want to make sure all the springs, pins, and internals aren’t gunked up and show signs of wear. Even if it’s functioning just fine, having that peace of mind is crucial when it’s something I rely on every day. In between those deep cleans, I'll do some quick wipe-downs and add a bit of lube every couple of 100 rounds or right after a range session. It doesn’t take long, and it helps keep everything running smoothly.

You're just overthinking haha! Glocks are super reliable and can go way longer than that without any problems. But since it's your carry gun, I'd definitely recommend giving it a good clean soon, just to keep your mind at ease.

Lots of variables on this subject but overall this isn't a priority issue even if your not cleaning these carry guns often from training with them. Accuracy and dependability won't suffer from not cleaning them enough. More likely rust or exterior corrosion will start before dependability and accuracy goes. Still a good idea to clean them annually or a couple times a year. Keep them lightly oiled and wiped down with a dry rag. Couple passes with a nylon brush down the barrel is plenty after any range work. Once a year use a good bore cleaner to break down carbon and copper. EZPZ. Glocks are the most maintenance free pistols there are in the semi auto platform.
