I'm afraid this area may look like a suburb of Kalamazoo, in a few years. Half-million dollar executive homes are being built nearby, now. The parcels to be auctioned would accommodate dozens of conventional single-family houses if an aggressive developer buys in. No doubt, our local tax board would reconfigure all of this agricultural property for a higher return on residential use. That's urban sprawl, I guess.

Celebration time! The surrounding 400 acres were just purchased at auction by a farming conglomerate. The land will remain agricultural for the forseeable years. No houses, no residential development whatsoever. Wonderful news for us and our neighbors.

That is good news. Now if they can just get the property designated as a 'greenbelt' it will never be developed.
