Is anyone taking the time this year to enhance their current guns instead of purchasing something fresh off the shelf?

Absolutely. Looking at building a 300 blackout on an AR platform topping off with the AB suppressor.
It just started my research on which parts to get

looking @ alternatives to get my latest purchase ( a Tisas dbl stack 9) to shoot somewhere close to point of aim. Iron sights shot >6" low& 5" to left... @ 7 yds! Sent in for repair, did nothing , said "Meets Accuracy Specs".. Really ? It's an 'Optic Ready" 1911, so mounted a red dot. Adjusted as high as adjustment allows & it still shoots too low. Trying to decide to get gunsmith intervention, or just sell it.

Yes but don’t think it will be possible this year due to other financial obligations I foresee in the coming future. I would like to re barrel my 6-284 to a 6PRC which would require new bolt and a long wait on quality barrel plus quality reloading dies. It’s a dream for now. May purchase pieces of the build when finances allow and complete once everything is attained. Or sell some things that are not used as frequently as they use to be. 👍😁

Let me add a little experience to your plans. I had a 6.5-284 that I loved. The barrel was about shot out so I decided to chamber my next barrel to a 6.5 PRC. Savage rifle so only needed a new bolt head (cheap transition). The results were disappointing. The PRC didn't give me more than 75 fps and wasn't nearly as accurate as the 6.5-284 cartridge. When I wound up finding the accuracy node, it was a lower one than the 6.5-284. Sold the PRC barrel and started over with the original non-magnum version. Luckily I didn't use up my stock pile of Broughton barrels for the PRC. Used a Bartlein instead. l used another Broughton for the 6.5-284. Hope this experience helps. If not, good luck and I understand.
