In one range session, I tried seated, kneeling, rollover prone, urban prone, shooting around cover from both sides, shooting from the ground, shooting uphill and down. Most of my shooting life I've shot from standing. One afternoon of unconventional positions showed me gaps I didn't know I had. It is important to build a position library, you might need any of them.

Long Guns? Handguns? Both?

Shoot from, and being proficient at shooting from different positions is a good thing! (y)
Couldn’t agree more, if you only shoot one way, that’s the only way you’ll perform when it actually counts.

I shot from a vehicle once during a class, it’s a whole different game, with a different sight picture and stability. Most folks just train standing at seven yards and call it good
